Welcome to TRIPI!
For your first trip on TRIPI, you should receive an SMS text and an e-mail with the password to use for TRIPI. **CHECK YOUR JUNK MAIL**
·Download the TRIPI app, found in the Play Store / App Store. The TRIPI app is technically called “TRIPI group communication” and the icon itself says TRIPI, with a background of blue with red tourist attractions on it, including the Statue of Liberty.
Open the app & click “I am a guide”, enter your phone number with ‘1’ in front (i.e. 1715234xxxx) and your password - click on the box that you agree to the terms and conditions.
TRIPI automatically sends you a password as a text message and to your e-mail, but if that does not work then use the password acts1234, no caps or spaces to gain access to the app.
If for some reason you need to reset your password, TRIPI sends your new re-set password to your e-mail. (Be sure to check your junk mail.)
Your trip ID will be right next to the tour code. Your participants will enter this trip ID to get into their trip on TRIPI.
If you don’t have any active trips, the app will give you a notification that you don’t have any active trips, and once you press OK it will sign you out of the app.
Sometimes there is a delay to process the addition of a new tour, so if you receive a message you that your tour has been added and the app says you do not have any active tours, just give it a little time and try again.
Note the page of icons labeled map, messages, itinerary, members, weather, settings and start guidance.
At the top of this page, you will see the name of your trip and the ID for your trip in parenthesis (ID #####). This is the number that you need to give out to your participant to sign in to the tour.
Under settings you can switch to a different trip if you have more than one trip; you can sign out from there as well.
When you click on the map icon, it will show you a map with your present location.
You can message your participants with the message app.
At present we are not using the itinerary icon.
The weather icon will how the weather forecast where you presently are.
My first tour group's leader chose not to use, as he felt that even if it connected, it would be harder to determine if the students were actually using the app or just using their phones.
